Emotional Wellness: Are we giving sufficient attention?

Self sounds selfish. Isn’t it?

The self is understood to be part of a larger whole of one’s existence and is largely defined in terms of connection with our material self, social self, and spiritual self. In this society, where we are constrained to socialize and be concerned for relationships, the gospel truth is that the self sometimes gets lost in the shuffle. Eventually, we discern every situation with resentment and adversity. As a result, we only want to be apprised of learned helplessness, thereby shedding the benefits of learned optimism.

The ground of perceived self is shackled during the trial times. That is when the most abstruse notions that we have for ourselves bog down our inner strength and beauty. That is when our self-serving beliefs are far from clear. The fact is we have to stop playing such denial games with ourselves. Time and again, we, ourselves have forfeited the fundamental human impulse of emotional wellness. It is important to give priority to self-affirmation. We need to traverse the negativity by being more aware of our feelings and expressions in a healthy manner. Self-affirmation can help to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. When we swore statements of emotional wellness, believe in them, and repeat often, we start to observe stability in mood and annex the ability to cope with stress.

Concernment of self-reflection, self-construal, and self -efficacy compel you to look on the bright side. Thinking of oneself favorably just makes a person more emotionally healthy and happy. There is a sense of self that strives for emotional freedom whenever there is a baffling situation. A positive view of oneself is a valuable and abysmal gift that lifts up our self-confidence and helps the individual undertake more ambitious goals and persist in the face of adversity.

It is time to pay more attention to our emotional wellness which will sail us through life challenges. Indeed, emotional wellness yields an endogenous value by striking the right emotional balance which will help individuals to understand and cope with stress and adapt to change as and when the circumstances changes.

Lastly, a person who can help himself can help society!
