Mid-Life Crisis

It is a dogged truth that not everyone is able to achieve what they wanted to, in their lives as youngsters. And the middle age (40-65) comes with a lot of remorse, regret, and a desire to go back to the twenties and retake certain decisions that were taken, maybe related to career, related to the upbringing of children, or spousal too. This repentance needs to come out, the person suffering through this sorrow needs to talk it out. Counselling is very effective in this period of life, where you can actually discuss your deep regrets, where you can be vocal about the missteps taken in your careers, about your unfulfilled need or desire, come out of the depression caused in your married life, or maybe your need to get that sense of youthfulness again, all WITHOUT BEING JUDGED! Mid-life crisis, in particular, needs help because if not taken care of, the implications are worst. The agitation and stress that it accompanies causes the sufferer to unreasonable and unsound decisions in a frenzy, may cause them to resort to certain addictions like drugs, alcoholism, etc. the people who are connected to them are the worst sufferers in this case. The most common techniques undertaken by therapists are “trauma focused” and “emotional freedom”. Empathetic listening of the counselor is the key to mid-life crisis!
